About GKE Autopilot

Autopilot is a new mode of operation in Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) that is designed to reduce the operational cost of managing clusters, optimize your clusters for production, and yield higher workload availability. The mode of operation refers to the level of flexibility, responsibility, and control that you have over your cluster. In addition to the benefits of a fully managed control plane and node automations, GKE offers two modes of operation:

  • Autopilot: GKE provisions and manages the cluster’s underlying infrastructure, including nodes and node pools, giving you an optimized cluster with a hands-off experience.
  • Standard: You manage the cluster’s underlying infrastructure, giving you node configuration flexibility.

About Google Cloud Run

Cloud Run is a managed compute platform that enables you to run containers that are invocable via requests or events. Cloud Run is serverless: it abstracts away all infrastructure management, so you can focus on what matters most — building great applications.

The Experts

Speakers

This sessions will be delivered by three GCP Experts: Kaushik Bhattacharya (Google), Luca Cavallin (Binx.io), and Matt Watson (Binx.io)

Kaushik Bhattacharya

With more than a decade of experience in Cloud Technologies and Application Modernization, Kaushik walks us through where we’re today with Google’s Kubernetes Engine, what lies ahead and how Serverless technologies such as Cloud Run are going to address customers’ problems going forward.

Luca Cavallin

Luca is a software engineer and a certified Product Owner with full-stack experience ranging from large-scale distributed systems to cross-platform apps, and a fan of maintainable software and automated tests. He believes the cloud helps building applications painlessly, so he decided to dive deep into the atmospheric world of Google Cloud. He is currently interested in Serverless architectures, Machine Learning, IoT, React Native, Golang, and Rust.

The rest of the time he enjoys photography, cycling, and cats.

Matt Watson

Over the past 5 years, Matt has worked with the largest UK-based companies in their respective fields (automotive, food, and legal) and throughout many projects, he has been exposed to different tools, ways of working, and environments. This has been crucial to his development and has required him to be flexible, organized, and most importantly conscientious.

“I love what I do and am always enthusiastic to get each project started with the team.”
